If I could only have one brownie recipe in my life, it would be this one from Smitten Kitchen. I used to swear by boxed brownies – what could be better – until I tried these brownies. They are the best brownies you will ever have. I mean it. I’ll never settle for boxed brownies again. These are perfect. I’ve made them 100 times.
Let’s begin.
What you’ll need:
Ingredients
- 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped (Guittard is my favorite)
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 1 1/3 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (the real kind)
- ½ teaspoon flaky sea salt
- 2/3 cup flour
Preheat oven to 350ºF degrees.
Butter an 8×8-inch square baking pan.
In a bowl over simmering water, melt chocolate and butter together. Stir off the heat until smooth. Whisk in the sugar, then the eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla and salt. Stir in flour – do not overmix.
Scoop batter into pan, and spread it out evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool or – if you dare – eat immediately with vanilla bean ice cream!
